Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (i.e., Java, Kotlin or C++), and with data structures/algorithms.
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
  • 3 years of experience working with embedded operating systems.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
  • Experience in connectivity/networking stack or bluetooth and wifi radio.
  • Experience in development, debugging, and testing work in Android Framework, Android or Linux Kernel.
  • Expertise in the software development lifecycle process, including analysis and design, APIs and development tools.
  • Is comfortable working on ambiguous system level problems and solving problems that cross HW/SW boundaries.

On Android TV Operating System (OS), our mission is to build an industry leading, ubiquitous TV OS that brings the best of Google to the living room. This team is responsible for all aspects of the TV OS Core Framework and we work across all of Google to bring great experiences to the living room.

Google TV is redefining the TV experience to make it highly personalized, Google-smart, and content-forward to help users access the world’s media. Through recent launches like Chromecast with Google TV, we bring together the best of Google. Google TV is focused on scaling across the OEM ecosystem; working closely with third-party streaming partners plus many teams across Google (for example: Ads, Play, and YouTube); and building a business on TV platforms, OTT devices, and mobile devices. With over 220 million active users of our products plus being amidst the quickly evolving media and entertainment industry, there are plenty of opportunities for the team and individuals in it.

Responsibilities

  • Be a thought leader in moving the team to scale.
  • Contribute to the overall Android TV OS planning and scoping for the team, collaborating across other TLs and developers in engineering/productivity groups.
  • Help identify & implement any automation or tools to help improve Android TV OS quality/agility.
  • Contribute to designing and developing processes across the engineering teams within the group, as well as engaging with partner teams within and outside the Android TV organization to ensure releases are well-coordinated.
  • Contribute to process improvements balancing high pace and innovation culture with solid quality and best practices.
