Doesn't that mean Cole's monster is like C-rank at best? So if Cole wants to be among the strongest he needs to become like Bernhardt or Malik, more than just creative or diligent in the development of their powers? I don't see that happening so does that mean when the other characters hit level 4 they will slowly start to close the gap with Cole, with the only advantage he has left being the extra power he has?
It would be pretty funny to see multiple people kick his ass while having less power than him.

The gap won't be close the level 4 superhuman gains power at faster rate than a level 3 so the gap will only get wider.What cole actually needs to do is improving his skills and not rely full time on his heat powers and use his body aswell.He is a physical type superhuman so his body and strength should be considerable too but bro just had skill issue.

Okay so let's say Cole can get broken abilities as a lesser spawn who evolved far past their monster progenitor. The reason why Cole has such low skill compared to his monster power related abilities, like his ability to sense power and his various heat related abilities, is because of his technique Head Burst. Unless they are regenerative type superhuman, there's no surviving that blow once it lands. While there might be abilities like precognition or teleportation that make dodging a breeze, landing a solid hit on him through all that heat will be hard if they are not significantly more powerful like Nico was. Now that he has his cold abilities that make his enemies unable to move, and Heat Zone, which is even more deadly than Head Burst, and has a longer range, I think he won't apply himself physically. Yes, he lost to the MC, Deryl, and Amber despite having much more power than them, but when he was losing to Deryl and MC he kept screaming something like "I am Level 4, Why am I losing to a bunch of level 3s". The answer what pretty obvious, but he seems like the type to say "...they won because they played dirty tricks and got lucky breaks..." and not actually reflect and analyze why he lost.
As a result, he won't increase his skill level too much or gain combat experience for situations where his power won't insta-kill his foes, I think he will just try harder to make sure he kills them. So basically, he will just work on increasing his power and the potency of his abilities. Which might work to an extent, but I don't think it will really solve the weaknesses or gaps in his combat abilities he has. So, when other superhumans evolve to level 4 while also training their skills to avoid being instantly killed and increasing their odds of survival, I think Cole may start to struggle because he will have a great power but will not be a great combatant.

The thing is Cole has a logical thinking and here's why. From his POV all he has to do is level up his spammable nuke ability. Why bother learning minute details when you can leftclick to kill someone? His downfall was the plot because if he fought 1v1 against everyone its a HIGH CHANCE HE WOULD WIN.
Naturally this thinking is flawed when it comes to dealing with stronger opponents and thats where skill comes in. Having low skill against other tier 4s or tier 5s would just make him lose instantly.

Yeah cole needs to start from fighting monster or Superhuman who aren't a huge threat to him and engage them in a battle without using his heat powers and then build up from there,while also finding other ways to make his use of heat powers more efficient.Othrwise as you said he will keep having skill issue on his screen lol.

I think its less of a plot thing cause right when he was about to die to MC when they were both lvl 3 he gets a evolution out of his ass which saved him from getting beheaded. His downfall was being bum fucking awful at skill he just relied on his exploding ability without doing much training so people like MC or those of the body would probably fuck him/give him a hard fight

Ella had an insane amount of skill pretty sure she said even if an atom of her survived she could just come back/regen and cole deadass was like "Yeah i should be satisfied with this amount of skill" mf was fantasizing mid fight about ella and was crutching on his powers so badly

Different power sets, the MC and Ella's power involve skill at moving their body far beyond what is required of any other creature and mastery of what they can change it into, it's probably the powerset that gains more from skill than any other.

Wrong!!! Even the MC was focusing more on his body at first and not his skills, but after his first fight with deryl he learn that he can't always depend on his ability to regenerate. But Cole knew he had problems with range and even after his fight with Valvaran he did not try to improve.

Personally, I would be very surprised if Cole improved his skills any after his loss to the MC, because that would mean he was still a person, capable of learning and growing as a result of choices he made. I can't believe that Tanos is just going to fix him up. That "I'll fix every last thing wrong with you" as he grins at a helpless Cole does not come across as a sincere promise to help. Nah, if Cole ever does come back, he's coming back as components of a chimera. Not really him anymore, just him giving one of Tanos' creations some firepower.
